10 Simple Ways to Live and Eat a Healthy Lifestyle: For My Trucker Wives Living a Fit Life!
Hi Warrior Chic's I hear you!
Every since I’ve been posting about healthy living I’ve been loaded with emails about how to live a healthy lifestyle? I know you hear a lot about living a healthy lifestyle and I’ve been posting tips for my clients to help them stay on track with their daily and weekly goals to eat healthier.
The good news is, you don't have to change everything at the same time. In fact, the trick to healthy living is making small changes - Taking more steps each day, adding fruit to your breakfast, having an extra glass of water or saying no to that second helping of carbs such as buttery mashed potatoes. So, what else can you be doing to eat and live healthy? Your first order of business is to start exercising.
Exercise
The more movement you do each day the more calories you can burn throughout your day. One of the biggest reasons we have a weight problem these days is because we sit around too much. We know we need to exercise, but we have so many excuses not to do it. We're too busy, don't know where to start, we're not motivated or we're afraid we'll injure ourselves or we're afraid that exercise has to be vigorous for what our bodies can handle. The truth is, everything counts and the more you move, the healthier you'll be. Last month I shared with you the Jamie Eason Live Fit plan I use when exercising.
Diet is Key!
Eating a healthy diet is another part of the healthy lifestyle. Not only can a clean diet help with weight management, it can also improve your health and quality of life as you get older. You can use the MyPlate to determine how many calories you need and what food groups you should focus on or, if you're looking for smaller changes, you can use these 10 tips for simple ways to change how you eat:
1. Drink a smoothie for breakfast and cut back on the carbs and refined sugar.
2. Cut back on the oil and start using chicken broth, water, or vegetable broth to sauté your dishes.
3. Eat your veggies first then consume the rest of your meal. You will be full of healthy foods opposed to unhealthy high carbs or refine sugars.
4. Use cauliflower in the place of rice, potatoes and bread crust.
5. Eat a salad with every meal. Be sure to consume 80 % veggies and 20% everything else is the rule I stand by.
6. Choose stir fry dishes that’s full of 80% veggies 20% protein and everything else. This is the best way I can explain how to live by the 80/20 rule.
7. Choose healthy fats such a nuts/seeds for snack opposed to sugary treats and high carb foods.
8. Use Sunday as you planning and prep day. Prep all your meals in advance to ensure you are equipped to eat and live a clean eating healthy lifestyle.
9. Try out new soup recipes to eat as your lunch with a side green salad.
10. Make your own ice cream by blending 3-4 banana, 1/2 cup of frozen strawberries, 1/2 tsp vanilla, and 1/4 cup almond milk. This is a delicious healthy, non dairy, no added sugar treat.
The key is to add more veggies into all of your meals. Add them wherever you can--a tomato on your sandwich, peppers on your pizza, or extra veggies in your pasta sauce. Keep precut or canned/frozen veggies ready for quick snacks.
Creating a healthy lifestyle doesn't have to mean drastic changes. In fact, drastic changes almost always lead to failure. Making small changes in how you live each day can lead to big rewards, so figure out what you can to be healthy today.
